Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

Current SF does shockingly well on this problem:

Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

No, I have the 6 man files. I am sure you can replicate it with your copy if you have them. I think I used 11 threads.

For whatever reason, SF solves this one even faster than MateFinder

Correct.

The mate in 72 must be a case where the TT value from a higher depth leaked into the PV. Although SF "in principle" does not return TT values in the PV, its qsearch in fact does.

The position is mate in 34 or less:

Code: Select all

Mate in 72 is some kind of bug I suppose? I get also long mates with SF, but never over #64.

Not a bug, just the way the TT works.

i can confirm this !..i used no TB's
thank you Ronald for your efforts !...from my pov the number of moves to mate has to be correct but as everytime i might err here :-)
to humanize the line a little bit i give this as mainline alternatively (its not the line with which i was able to confirm Ronalds analysis...i hope it is correct therefore):
