Dann, you are absolutely correct , Lyudmil has the potential to a be very valued contributor here and I certainly hope it turns out that way. He is smart, and he knows a lot about chess, He does not have to try to impress, nor does he need to point out other people shortcomings - either real or imagined. Just talk about chess and or chess software and he will be fine.Dann Corbit wrote:I have also served as a moderator.
I will not question the ban.
But I will ask for leniency on the duration.
Lyudmil can be a whinging twit, just like me.
But he is interesting and informative.
He has taught me useful things.
He is not like the random troll, who only seeks attention.
I also ask Lyudmil to consider toning it down a notch when it comes to trying to enforce his opinions.
Just my two cents.
Why was Lyudmil banned?

Re: Why was Lyudmil banned?
I do think Tsvetkov know quite a lot about chess.
He has also made some bold claims about his expertise, among other claims that he can regularly beat SF and Komodo. He has also come up with a system on how to evaluate positions, basically unknown to more well known theorists.
All this may be true but such bold claims must be open to tests which he seems unwilling to participate in.
His published games against strong engines are highly questionable at best, most people are unable to replicate the moves from the engines.
They do show a good understanding of chess but several moves from the engine are not possible to explain and when questioned about them he starts insulting people about their knowledge and talent.
I think the sad truth is that he has gone overboard with his chess studies and really need some more contact with the real world.
