New phpBB Talkchess Forum presentation

Post by ernest »

I am surprised there are no comments about that new presentation (active since a few days), which arrived suddenly.

My feelings are mixed, to say the least !...

I have not been able to use the Search function (before : no problem) :(

I like the new look - it seems cleaner and brighter. I have not missed the search facility - either before or now, but perhaps that is just me.
I do agree it was a bit of a shock (but once I got used to it... ok)

Search seems to be fine, however boards are not getting displayed?

It seems search only yields matches for recent posts, not posts from before the migration?

Indeed, that seems to be the problem !

But you are the first I see speaking of migration.
I am somewhat appalled by the carelessness of Administrators or whoever in charge, who didn't have the elementary politeness to present the current changes.

Or did I miss something ?

...and for instance, what is the signification of the icons left of the threads, horizontal lines inside a circle, or twisted arrow inside a circle ??? :o

That is is a regular thread, not an announcement (which would have an "i" instead).
or twisted arrow inside a circle ???
I guess this is supposed to be a flame and denotes a long thread. It doesn't appear with up to 23 posts and starts with 24 posts.

I am thinking chess is in a coin.Human beings for ever playing in one face. Now I am playing in the other face:"Antichess". Computers are as a fortres where owner forgot to close a little door behind. You must enter across this door.Forget the front.

Concerning the Search function, it seems "some" progress has been made in the recent hours...

But for instance, I still cannot find, as Author, Lyudmil Antonov. Strange...

Other problem I have seen is that the forum now show usernames but not names. Sometimes it is hard to guess who is who :)
