Compuchess 1.5

Post by Colin-G »

I bought this program for a couple of pounds over 10 years ago.
(Its a free download now, according to google)
It still works on my old WinXP computer.
It is not very strong. Over the years its played 68 games against some of my other engines with the moves being made manually.
In my elo list it sits midway between Beowulf 2.4 and Inmichess3.06N, which would give it a rating of about 2180 in the CCRL list.
I was wondering if anyone had any info about it, and who the engine author was.

http://www.inertiasoftware.com/chess/

I found this link from the original company which sold it.
They don't name the developer and attach a 2500 Elo GM strength to it.

Edit:
The only one from current team who is long enough there and working as a programmer
would be Greg Denness, one of two founders of that company in 2003.

Funny thing, here is another website
It is copyrighted to Greg Denness but he seems to be manager of the software company, so nothing to conclude regarding the author of the engine. Maybe, maybe not...

This is just a tripod site...

Greg Denness is/was the main developer for game engines since the beginning in 2003
and Compuchess was sold in 2003.
