Best move: Bd7
Ponder move: Nxd7
My conclusion after this analysis is that your intuition is right, and Bd7 is clearly the stronger move, though it is less frequently played.
As far as forward pv nodes go, I believe in doing that one node at a time.
The reason is that the root position is unbelievably strong after long analysis.
The next node is half as good.
The next node after that is half as good as the previous.
By the time you have gone ten nodes, the analysis is worthless (unless you have a mate or a powerful tactic to drive the proper pv).
If many of the moves are quiet, you simply cannot trust the pv.
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

I will add though, a lot of high-level correspondence players do not seem to care about entering a line where there are negative evals, as long as eventually they think they can draw. 10 .. Nd7 for example could still be = in practice.

Ending the search now. It seems that Cfish-dev agrees that 10... Bd7 is best.
Actually, I let the search continue. Now it is done. The last iteration:

+0.25 10... Bd7 11. Nxd7 Nxd7 12. Be2 Bd6 13. Rd1 O-O 14. dxc5 Nxc5 15. Qc2 b5 16. g3 Rad8 17. O-O Na4 18. Bg5 Rc8 19. Rfe1 h6 20. Bc1 Be7 21. Bf4 Qc6 22. Bd3 Rcd8 23. Bh7+ Kh8 24. My goodness, depth 68... Thank you. One thing that puzzels me is that after 12...Bd6 He shows 13.Rd1. I thought 13.dxc5 is critical and after 13.Bxd6 14.Bf4 e5 15.Bg3 and now I'm little bit stuck, casue I don't know what's the cleanest way to equlize: 15...f5, 15...O-O-O or 15...O-O.

Unfortunately, I quit the search and the hash info is all gone.

As Dann pointed out, the moves in the pv become increasingly less reliable the further along they are. Best would be a search of the new position of interest:

Karol Majewski wrote: Tue Jul 24, 2018 10:03 pm OK, so here's the position. Black to move. After moving pieces and looking at evaluations I came to the conclusion that 10...Bd7 is objectively stronger than 10...Nd7. Now I want to - kind of - prove it and check if the engine (probably latest Stocky) will find 10...Bd7 in a single run. This requires very deep analysis and very powerful machine, I think. Best line should start like: 10...Bd7 11.Nxd7 Nxd7 and now probably 12.Be2 or 12.Rd1 or even 12.g3...

So now i't trying to find absolute best move in the following position:

[d]r1bq1rk1/pppp1ppp/2n2n2/8/3BP3/2N5/PPP2PPP/R2QKB1R w KQ - 1 8

I think there are two serious moves: Be2 and Bxf6. I'm running analysis on my machine with latest Stockfish dev (1CPU, 4096MB hash, Analysis Contempt: Off) and after 50 hours he favours Be2. But... now, at depth 59, he's been contemplating Bxf6 (for the next 10 hours). I'm afraid I don't have enough computing power (and time :) ) to go beyond depth 60.

Can someone provide deep analysis of this position with latest Stockfish with Analysis Contempt set to Off? And maybe Leela (with current best ID 11041) can give some hint there.

Might be able to run a search in the next day or so. Have you investigated the Cerebellum Library and Brainfish Chess Engine?
