I don't consider myself to be brilliant, no. Knowledgeable, yes.
why a troll question?, you cannot write a even a mediocre 1800 elo computer chess program without being brilliant.

The first man who wrote the first 1800 Elo chess program was a brilliant.
Now if you are a programmer (even a student) and read on net some articles and study of some open source chess programs you can write a chess program more stronger than 1800 Elo during some months.
