Gödel 4.4.5 released

Released Gödel 4.4.5 for Linux and Windows:

* Should be around 2780 at 40/40 and above 2800 at 40/4 (CCRL)
* Completely coded on Linux and crosscompiled for Windows.
* Added Move Count Pruning.
* All the rook's evaluation pararameters were optimized automatically.
* Solved bugs related to the Transposition Table.
* More aggressive futility pruning.

I've been testing Godel 4.4.5 Linux 64 bits version in xboard mode.
In Cutechess GUI the engine works but opening book doesn't work.
Godel 4.0.7 did work in Cutechess GUI with opening book.
In Arena 1.1 for Linux, Godel 4.4.5 in Winboard mode the opening book works but the engine never makes a move while you see the engine is "thinking".
Same behaviour for 4.0.7 in Arena.
In Winboard (old) mode it makes my PC unresponsive.

Regarding the opening book in CuteChess GUI, Gödel's book is not a poliglot book so it will not work in Cutechess GUI. I've just test it with a poliglot book and it works fine. I think CuteChess GUI doesn't allow the engine to use their own book, correct me if i'm wrong.

You found a bug in time controls with a fixed time per game and no time increment per move. The problem always happens when the time increment is zero in Winboard protocol ( "level 0 5 0" command for instance ). I think this bug does not affect testing with other time controls so I will include the solution in the next release. Try other time controls and it will work.

Hi Juan, of course CuteChess allows programs to use own books (in whatever format).
The easiest way would be to set it up in uci mode, but this does not work, I have just tested it.
It simply does not move and time runs out...

It works though in xboard mode in Winboard, but at least as White against myself it crashes while thinking
for the first ply after book end!

I have not yet tested in xboard mode with book in CuteChess (a bit more complicated) and vs. another program.

It seems I was quite lucky

You're right.
Godel's book isn't working and it doesn't play against a human in winboard mode.

May I ask you how to set hash size in WB mode? Whatver value I set in the .rc file Arena always reports 91 MB.

In Arena just press CTRL + 1 and set the hash size.
You must start a new game to see the change of the memory size in the status bar.
Remember that you can't play against Gödel in Winboard by the moment and that the book isn't working.
