Guess it has something to do with tactical setting and big hash, as far as I saw till now.

Edit: Gave it four more Trials at same position with restarting GUI each time.
No Crash with external MV-mode 32, Analysis Contempt Both 100, no Crash with Tactical 5 Analysis Contempt off, but one more Crash with Tactical 5 and Analysis Contempt Both 100. Yet one more trial in this one combination now running without crash for 4 minutes also, so it's not really reproducable very often.
BTW, best move is 27.Bf6! here, it's from an ICCF- game of last year.

I will have to check it tonight. How about if you use TB’s does it still crash? Also it reproducible on the command line ? Same settings same position - how about if you use just one core ? Is it hash size sensitive ? A lot of different variables here.

What hash size are you using with 32 bit exe’s? My guess is that is it related to hash size if it’s not appearing at all with 8GB or smaller. Then the question is , assuming it’s not GUI impacted , is it unique to McCain or does SF have the same symptoms too.

Im using 64bit modern compiles Lucas Monge, 32G hash, didn't try other GUI but Fritz till now and no, SF dev doesn't crash.
BTW, it didn't happen since this morning anymore, after several GUI- restarts, so maybe it was simple accident and don't happen really often.
Will go on watching and return if I can say more about circumstances.

this is with tactical 5 setting - no crashes noted - so the culprits , my guess, potentially the GUI - pls check at there terminal level and the other guess is something to do with memory - lower the hash down until it doesn't do it anymore. Without it happening in the mac version, I will be limited in finding out the root cause, I would try some of the other windows versions as well. You don't have to use the fastest , especially if it's not stable on your machine.

Crashing again after restart of GUI with almost same position (one move earlier in game).

Tactical 5 this time, Analysis Contempt Both 100, only a few seconds after starting GUI newly, same CPU und hash- amount, again no tbs, Fritz14.
Guess it has something to do with tactical setting and big hash, as far as I saw till now.

Edit: Gave it four more Trials at same position with restarting GUI each time.
No Crash with external MV-mode 32, Analysis Contempt Both 100, no Crash with Tactical 5 Analysis Contempt off, but one more Crash with Tactical 5 and Analysis Contempt Both 100. Yet one more trial in this one combination now running without crash for 4 minutes also, so it's not really reproducable very often.
BTW, best move is 27.Bf6! here, it's from an ICCF- game of last year.

I will have to check it tonight. How about if you use TB’s does it still crash? Also it reproducible on the command line ? Same settings same position - how about if you use just one core ? Is it hash size sensitive ? A lot of different variables here.

That was my impression now and then too, I don't think it has something to do with tbs anymore. Maybe 32G hash together with Tactical setting and Forward Backward in Fritz GUI on my PC only, together with in between work in other applications.
Still no more crashes after reboot.
