Going by my bills I'd say it's at least double that.

Addition: if we consider 7 piece tablebases and/or raised contempt we have already sure more than 50.

Marco Costalba has stepped down as maintainer of Stockfish on 18.06.2014

Since 2013, Stockfish has been developed using a distributed open-source testing framework named Fishtest.

As of 20.10.2018, fishtest has 165 developers, who submitted 37300 patches so far. Marco Costalba submitted 946, all before 2014.06.

20 developers have contributor rights at GitHub. Marco Costalba didn't apply commits since 2014
Most active commiter in 2018 is Tom Vijlbrief (Netherland)


There are 9 developers who submitted more than 1000 patches (tests) each. 3 developers submitted >3000 patches each.
63 developers submitted 50+ patches
