Good find. Looks like another good winning line missed by GM Caruana. But position looks complex before g4! move.
I told my wife that a husband is like a fine wine; he gets better with age. The next day, she locked me in the cellar.

Indeed, Vincent, 23.g4! is single best move, even if not fully game changing, Caruana's move would have kept the winning advantage too, if he had continued with 24.Nc4 instead of h3 after 23.Rad1 Bd6.

After Backward of this and 23.Rad1(!?):

Analysis by asmFishWCP_2018-11-18_popcnt:

23...Bd6 24.Nc4 g4 25.Qf2 g3 26.Qd2 gxh2+ 27.Kh1 Qc7 28.Nxd6 Qxd6 29.Rxf4 Bg6 30.Rxf8+ Rxf8 31.b4 Bh5 32.bxc5 Qf4 33.Rb1 Qxd2 34.Bxd2 Bf7 35.Bh6 Re8 36.d6 Bd5 37.Rf1 Be6 38.Kxh2 Bd7 39.Kg3 Bb5 40.Rf5 Rd8 41.Kf2 Bd7 42.Rf3 Bc6 43.Rf4 Re8 44.Rf5 Rd8 45.Ke3 Bd7 46.Rf4 Rc8 47.Kd4 Bc6 48.Rf5 Re8 49.Kc3 Rd8 50.Rf4 Bd7 51.Kd4 Bc6 52.Rf6 Bd7 53.Rf3
+- (2.78) Depth: 43/60 00:05:49 9575MN

So g4 would have worked then still, yet already at 23rd it's even stronger.
Peter.

Hikaru was the special guest on the chess.com broadcast today. I recalled he had analyzed g4, but I wasn't sure at what point. After briefly skipping around the replay, I see it was in the line 23.Rae1 (instead of the game's 23.Rad1) 23...Bf6 24.g4 Bxc3 25.bxc3 Bg6 26.Re6 when he felt even 26...Bf7 27.Rfe1 Bxe6 28.Rxe6 left White with the advantage.

24.Qh5 isn't quite as strong as Nc4.
Output here after 23.Rad1 of course with contempt 0 too.

in the 6th game Caruana (Black) missed some winning chances too:

[d]5k2/8/5pK1/5PbP/2Bn4/8/8/8 b - -

The best move was Bh4, but it is not too easy to find it. :)
