Depends what you mean by "tried". For the primary results, still no opening book.

At 155 win, 6 losses and 839 draws that makes alpha zero only 52 elo better then stockfish. On vastly faster hardware. That is not a huge lead over stockfish.

I don't know the elo diff for that (TCEC openings) result off the top of my head, but not very impressive, is it?

I think they made a correction and said the new 1000 game match was with a newer version of stockfish. But +52 elo is what you can get with stockfish 11. At a much cheaper price then the hardware A0 is running.
