Hi there,

John sent me in the night release version 3.50.
For minutes in the morning I added it on my site.

http://www.amateurschach.de
You can download Wasp 3.50 under Wasp detail page (here you can see all the changes) or directly in my download area.

Have fun with Wasp 3.50 and "Mery Christmas Everyone".

Best
Frank

Hi,

Is it possible to get a binary that runs on the Raspberry Pi?

Thanks,

Al.

Great news. I'll have another nice engine to test during the xmas break. Tell John thanks from us all!

P.S. I know that we can tweak settings (eval, search, PST etc) in Wasp now in a text file, do you think he has any plans to make it easier?

Like, to create personalities within the UCI settings or with a Rodent/ProDeo-like personality creator?

That would be a dream for myself, and probably hundreds of people who follow my site/email me about such things.

Thanks guys. It is already running for CCRL 40/4 and I am just preparing it for CCRL 40/40.

EDIT: Now running for 40/40 as well.

Hi there,

shortly ...
I hope too that John find interest to create personalities.
Of course, a Raspberry version would be fine!

John can tell us more about it ...

I am very happy with Wasp!!
10.000 45-minutes test games played on my system in beta test phase and again ...
11 times more won as lost games vs. stronger opponents (move 50 undo mates, without resign mode).

Games can be found on Wasp detail page for the moment.

The style of Wasp is fantastic and exactly such a program was my biggest wish.
Now I have it.

Have many many thanks JOHN!!

In my main interest so far are "Fixed Search Depth" under Shredder Classic GUI.
Here I made many experiments with Wasp and older chess computers.
FSD 9 seems to be enough for the strongest of the older chess computers.
Wasp need around 10-15 milliseconds (without ponder) ... I compare with 1 minute per move from chess computer.

Very interesting matches Wasp 10-15 milliseconds without ponder vs. strongest chess computer with 1 minute per move. So, after all, FSD 11 should be enough for the new TheKing with 300 MHz (Millennium chess computer), maybe FSD 12-13 (around 30 milliseconds). My Risc 2500 2Mb with Montreux 1.0 eprom have no chance vs. Wasp and FSD 10.

Found a nice solution to test Wasp vs. chess computers and in my opinion is Wasp one of the strongest chess program with FSD 11 in the World. Excellent search with many pieces on board.

Often, I am thinking John don't know what for a killer engine he created.

Best
Frank

PS: Should be clear ... for chess computer Wasp is one of the best solutions today. And for that reason is Wasp on Raspberry important!!

Hi Frank,

I like Wasps style of play after watching it closely in the last TCEC where it narrowly missed promotion.

I have 70+ engines running on my RPi 3b+ and PicoChess mostly compiled myself, it would be nice to play against Wasp too.

..surely a nice engine

but not running on my linux machine - Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2520M CPU @ 2.50GHz 1899.719 MHz
it is designed for Intel Haswell or newer CPU ... a little bit sad

is there any chance for a "linux-cpu-downgrade" ?

edit: Wasp 3.00 runs pretty well, even on my older cpu

Thanks Frank for hosting Wasp on your website and for testing the beta versions!

Later today I will send Frank a Linux compile for older CPU's and also a RPi-3b compile.
