Interesting game (Caro Kann, Advance)

Post by jdart » Fri Jan 25, 2019 3:09 am

My program lost the following miniature. This is quite a rare opening line, and Black's
7th move may be a novelty. I think .. Nd7 as in a previous correspondence game was
safer. Black still apparently had a couple chances to draw but finding equality requires
precise play. Arasan had an = score up until 12. Nd1, and then it started to drop. It missed
12 .. Ng6, and then it was in trouble. This is a tricky line because both Kings look
exposed in many lines, and in fact neither gets to castle, but White emerges as better.

Every move for white from 8.Nf3 on is a McCain move ( not yet released) - so you might have been playing Stockfish, amsfish or cfish ..or something along those lines.

Qg4 is a NN move imo...current leela (t30) disfavors it and thinks black is fine until Rxg2, giving white winning chances.

I have a few games with the 7th position:
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

Here is where it all went wrong for black:
