Not to me as the path to reach the position is lost. With EPD people could even introduce sneaky Chess960 positions and nobody would know, or something.

The path to the final position doesn't seem very useful, and it could have arisen from a 960 start position.

To me it is, as one can take a look at the result of the game and conclude one of the sides could have deviated earlier to get a better result. Starting from an EPD makes this impossible.
