and I was thinking of a cheapo Ryzen 5 3600X in July or more expensive, but still cheap Ryzen 9 3850X in September. Those were pretty damn good specs and prices.

And I don't see a large progress compared to previous generations, aside IPC, which increases by a substantial 15% (according to them). The per core performance will be as high as the best Intel can offer, if their data is correct, making the processors very competitive in the game market, and I think that was the main goal of the new generation.

One point of interest, chess wise, will be to see if they fixed the BMI2 problem. That could offer a few percentiles more.

If the processors turn out to be competitive in the game scene, we may see a revisitation of the Athlon 64 days and Intel will have to budge. A price war may ensue and we'll get something closer to the rumoured prices. For the moment, they're still great by comparison, but I'd rather wait.

That is good for us. And bad for Intel.

I was hoping for a cheaper price. This is about the price I paid for the 2950x.

So I guess the new threadrippers will be going up in price. My motherboard will support the new threadrippers with a bios update. But I will have to wait till the end of the year from what I have seen.

Stockfish is itching to be played on 32 cores.
