Fire 7.1 and free Komodo 9
Based on CCRL 40/40 rating (4 CPU, 64-bit), Fire 7.1 has a rating of 3319 and Komodo 9 is 3308.
Has anyone tested Fire 7.1 against Komodo 9 at this time control or longer time control? Which of these 2 engines is stronger?
Thank you & regards,
Koh, Kah Huat

Hmm... seems like nobody has tested free Komodo 9 against Fire 7.1.

I'm going to run a Komodo 9 gauntlet soon to fill all the gaps in the free engines top twelve crosstable.

You may want to hold off such testing since I anticipate that Komodo 10 will become free soon.

Komodo 10 is indeed now free, so of course this should be the Komodo representative in any test of top free engines. I think it should be the top free cpu engine not related to Stockfish, but I'm not sure. By chance, it seems that Komodo 13.01 MCTS and Komodo 10 are very closely matched in strength.

BTW what happens with the interim versions between 9.02 (checked as last free version until today) and 10?lkaufman wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 2:39 amKomodo 10 is indeed now free, so of course this should be the Komodo representative in any test of top free engines. Will they remain private/commercial? IIRC there were 9.1/9.2/9.3/9.42 main versions.
I am just asking for the XB/UCI chronology, surely hardcore collectors will ask too, sooner or later ;-)

All older versions are supposed to be available free on request to subscribers. If any paying customer wanted some specific old version we would be glad to give it to him free assuming we have it available. We just don't want to have to spend significant time sending out old versions.Guenther wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 8:14 amBTW what happens with the interim versions between 9.02 (checked as last free version until today) and 10?lkaufman wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 2:39 amKomodo 10 is indeed now free, so of course this should be the Komodo representative in any test of top free engines. Adding the interim versions to a zip file takes the same effort as just adding major versions.
Though, I guess this makes interim versions more special

Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.
