Amd graphic cards for Leela

Post by h1a8 »

I've seen Nvidia benchmarks for Leela but not any AMD ones.
Are the latest and best amd cards good for Leela? Any benchmarks?

The problem is that there is a huge disparity in performance as the Nvidia GPUs benefit from the CUDA coding, while the AMD cards are restricted to the OpenCL model. This can lead to differences of 10x the performance when upper end cards of similar prices are compared.

What he said, if you aren't finding benchmarks, it may be because no one would bother testing so big a difference.

I think a lot has to do with coding Leela to take advantage of AMD cards. At the moment the code is optimized for Nvidia GPU's but that could change if someone feels there is an advantage to be gained with AMD cards.
