More likely, it requires java script.
Ever since Nimda, I have java script turned off.
Also w/o JS you wouldn't be able to browse >90% of all sites in the web nowadays.
I suggest to use the NoScript AddOn for FF and just allow what is necessary on all sites. Actually I use uBlockOrigin and NoScript together.
(often already the name of the JS tells you if it is spam/advertising or unnecessary, sometimes you just have to try)
