yes, as i thought....1...ra6 seems to be not really worse as well according a quick insight (if worse at all, which i cant see atm)...and if 1...rec8 is a tranposition then how long does it take SF to find it, lol...if it chooses 1...Ra6 it doesnt matter imo...its always the same (more or less) imo...bad testpos honestly as far as i dont miss something serious...thx Louis for reading my post and doing the stuff !! :-)

Just as good a move as c3, and found just as fast.

Nope, I wanted the best test environment for the Alpha Beta's and the best test environment for the Leela's. And I didn't want to compare opening books, so just a book with 5 moves.
supersharp77 wrote:2. 2 minutes plus 2 seconds with ponder on? How come? Whats the hurry? Of course GPU has a huge speed advantage with your "setup" How about 5 minute plus 10 seconds or 5 minutes plus 15 seconds? We want to find the correct continuations..right?
Nope, I wanted 1000 games with 2/2 rather than 200 games with 5/15.

Just to make sure we are all on the same page.

You are arguing Louis is wrong, because your lower depth and shorter timed search came up with something different? Further more you are arguing Leela is showing clear superiority because it is picking a move which is "more interesting" (really?) and because it supposedly wins faster? How good do you think Leela is doing in general if our criteria is winning quickly?

I think both A/B and NN engine are fascinating!

Here's Lc0 (network 320x24.J13-swa-410000) with 100M nodes. c3 is considered a bit better than Rec8:

Don't think so. I have received the following output in 3-variant mode (AMD Ryzen7-2700X - 16'384 MB):
Just to make sure we are all on the same page.
You are arguing Louis is wrong, because your lower depth and shorter timed search came up with something different? Further more you are arguing Leela is showing clear superiority because it is picking a move which is "more interesting" (really?) and because it supposedly wins faster? How good do you think Leela is doing in general if our criteria is winning quickly?
I saw the output from Zullil...

( viewtopic.php?f=2&t=71645&sid=b42daa485 ... 20#p809781 )

-3.03 1... c3 2. Na3 Rec8 3. Nc2 Nb2 4. a3 h5 5. f3 Ra6 [...]
-3.03 1... Rec8 2. Na3 c3 3. Nc2 Nb2 4. a3 h5 5. f3 Ra6 [...]
-1.79 1... Ra6 2. Nd2 h5 3. gxh5 Bxh3 4. Nf1 Bxf1 5. Kxf1 c3 [...]
(depth 49, 2:18:17)

... and compared to my output:

( viewtopic.php?f=2&t=71645&sid=b42daa485 ... 20#p809795 )

1. -+ (-2.92): 24...c3 25.Sa3 Tec8 26.Sc2 Sb2 27.a3 h5 28.f3 hxg4 [...]
2. -+ (-2.45): 24...Tec8 25.Sd2 c3 26.Sb3 c2 27.Sc5 Sxc5 28.dxc5 Txa2 [...]
3. -/+ (-1.54): 24...Ta6 25.Sd2 h5 26.gxh5 Lf5 27.e4 Lxe4 28.Sxe4 Txe4 [...]
(Depth 49 - 2:09:30)

These are two clearly different MultiPV's.

You can try to reach overnight depth 53 (MultiPV) on your computer yourself, maybe you'll get something like this:
1. -+ (-4.00)
2. -+ (-3.00)
3. -+ (-2.00)

I'm not saying that this position is a perfect test position. I'm just claim that 24... c3 is the most efficient and interesting move in this position.
This has nothing to do with any criteria for "fast winning" in Engines.
And the most important thing is, it's a tournament move played only by AI engines, never by A/Bs.
That's my point.

Leela doesn't calculate, Leela knows... ;-)
This is just wrong. It is doing massive amounts of calculation. You somehow erroneously believe that GPUs don't calculate. All of these engines, AB and NN, are doing massive amounts of calculation. How massive depends on the hardware you give them and the TC.
