13th ACCA World Computer Rapid Chess Championships

Post by CRoberson »

In order to schedule this for the largest potential participation, I'd like all potential participants to inform me of the weekends
that you can NOT participate on. From this, I'll create a list of dates left and then we'll vote on the date.

We are discussing weekends between Oct 5 and Dec 21 (inclusive):
Oct 5,6; Oct 12,13; Oct 19,20;
Nov 2,3; Nov 9,10; Nov 16,17; Nov 23,24; Nov 30, Dec 1
Dec 7,8; Dec 14,15; Dec 21,22

To start, the weekend of Oct 26/27 is not possible for me.

Respond to this thread for your input.

Best regards,
Charles

The weekend of oct 12/13 is the GSEI tournament in Turin. Although I'm not participating there this year it would be nice if the events do not happen on the same day.
As far as I can see now nov30/dec1 is really bad for me.
I'd prefer if nov 2/3, nov 23/24, dec 14/15 could be avoided. I will not be able to be there at the start on saturday afternoon as I'm playing in the Dutch chess league (so I'll prepare the comp, put it online and hope windows doesn't spontaneously reboot), but will be attending in the later rounds when I come home.

So far:
John Stanback says he can NOT on Oct 12-13, Oct 19-20, and Oct 26-27.
Oct 12/13 is bad due to conflict with GSEI.
Richard Pijl says he can NOT on Nov 30/Dec 1.
Richard prefers we not have it on Nov 2/3, Nov 23/24 and Dec 14/15 but can if necessary.
Some others have said all dates are fine (here and email).
Two have requested that the Sunday rounds end as early as possible.

Possible Dates left (*** means at least one prefers not but can if necessary):
Nov 2,3; ***
Nov 9,10;
Nov 16,17;
Nov 23,24; ****
Dec 7,8;
Dec 14,15; ***
Dec 21,22

Ok, there haven't been any new constraints that don't agree with the current ones.

So, the dates to vote on are:
Nov 9,10
Nov 16,17
Dec 7,8
Dec 21,22

I think that Dec 21,22 is likely a busy weekend for most but if that is what everybody wants then...

May the voting commence.

Will the tournament be played on the ICC? Will it be possible to watch it? I remember few years ago it was possible to register a free seven-days account on ICC but on the website it now says you need full membership to watch.

We usually have it on ICC. We have tried an alternate venue (HGM's server) but there were some performance issues and despite the extra effort to make it good for spectators very few showed up.
