For those that just want to see the graph ( sorry - it's fuzzy - go to the website above to see clearer image - its 37 to 39M nps, as an asie, the 2970 Threadripper comes in at 50M nps, and the 2990 Threadripper is about 60M. But the 2970 is just 24 cores.

After I installed the latest Mint on my laptop. I noticed a huge boost in search speed ( +1 mnps ). Movegenerator ( +10 mnps ).

I remember Sapeli searching 3.8 - 4.2 mnps on this laptop. Now Sapeli is searching almost 6 mnps. I used gcc7.2 earlier So the speed up is coming from OS.

Notice a big boost after I closed Firefox. It/other programs seems to hog lots of resources.

Chess engine benching

Code: Select all

sapeli -bench

= nodes 164462285 mnps 5.482 time 30.000
= nodes 164897159 mnps 5.497 time 30.000
= nodes 159218043 mnps 5.307 time 30.000

// Firefox closed

= nodes 174468708 mnps 5.816 time 30.000
= nodes 174229255 mnps 5.808 time 30.000
Move generator benching
