Nolot #3 vs. SF Dev

Post by MikeGL »

.
This really is an irritating thing.
I was wondering on why current SF dev cannot solve the Nolot #3 now,

[d]r2qk2r/ppp1b1pp/2n1p3/3pP1n1/3P2b1/2PB1NN1/PP4PP/R1BQK2R w - - 0 1
bm Nxg5

SF dev released around Dec'2018 was able to solve this in less than 1 minute on this same hardware I am using, but current SF dev 19092712 cannot solve it after multiple runs more than 4 mins per run. Have SF devs removed something important?
I told my wife that a husband is like a fine wine; he gets better with age. The next day, she locked me in the cellar.

Are you sure that Nxg5 is better than (for instance) h3?

Edit:
My bleeding edge SF solved it pretty quickly:

Hold on again, I had the wrong castle rights.
I will try again with castle rights set to none

OK, it makes sense now.

Your current position is wrong. The position you provided has no castle rights.

Nolot #3 has castle rights in the position:

See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nolot

Problem 3

FEN: r2qk2r/ppp1b1pp/2n1p3/3pP1n1/3P2b1/2PB1NN1/PP4PP/R1BQK2R w KQkq - 0 1
Problem 3
Smagin - Sahovic, Biel 1990[4]

White to play: 12. Nxg5!!

12.Nxg5!! Bxd1 13.Nxe6 Qb8 14.Nxg7+!! Kf8 15.Bh6! Bg4 16.0-0+ Kg8 17.Rf4 +-

White wins with a queen sac but black has defensive resources.

Thanks a lot! That's the correct reason. Just last week, I freshly downloaded a Nolot test suite from some random sites to
test the latest SF dev, and that Nolot suite is wrong and don't have castling rights for all positions. Now I feel relieved that SF dev of now is indeed better than that of 2018. Thanks again

p.s. solved by my setup now in less than 12 seconds, i thought the current dev was weaker.
