Added two more columns, process of adding data is still in the early beginning, but the sheet is already active.

First column: cmd (arg) + config file
Second column: versions for cmd (arg)

The direct link has changed, but you are always safe with the link given in my signature.

Example snippet made readable for the forum

Code: Select all

Today I have finally filtered out and removed all (or nearly all) lines, which did not contain Engine updates,
in the reference to Leos Ridderkerk-News (over 1000 lines gone).
Those were mostly about books/logos/GUIs/tools/tournaments etc.

If someone still needs the complete info, I have saved it to another sheet.

I just want to announce that I finally have added a new column to the XB/UCI chronology 'overview' sheet.
The new column is 'PL' (Programming language), currently stuck at around letter C, will work on it the next weeks.

While adding the new column I also took the opportunity to move two other columns from the 'full' XB/UCI chronology
to the 'overview' - those were stuck for long anyway (lots of boring 'archeological work').
Those columns are the 'cmd args/configs' and which 'versions' they are applied to.

Now both sheets the 'overview' and the 'full one' can fullfill their different needs.

https://rwbc-chess.de/chronology.htm

Moreover while checking the PL of some programs I noticed that some programs had quite some changes
in their github repo (+ bugfixes) and should be made available by newer compilations - I guess I am working on this :)

Especially James Swafford long time programmer (Tristram!) on various engines/projects worked quite a lot on his current programs again
during the last two years, also on a successor of Prophet3 called Prophet4 now and also on Chess4J and even releasing an unknown
(at least to me not to CCW and CCRL though! must be slipped through here) newer version of old Prophet3 in June 2019 (version from 20181124).

Edit:
A last note - after splitting up Cheng4/Cheng3 in two own programs as they should appear,
I also did the opposite with ChessCore and ChessBin, after realizing it was renamed to ChessCore.

Hi Guenther,

I will look more in detail in December.
What you do here is really great!

Oh yes, Tristram!
With Crafty and TCBishop, SSEChess one of the first available WB engines I am using with Phalanx, Gromit, Zarkov, WBNimzo and Stober for Winboard tournaments. Later Comet, Patzer, Francesa and all the French engines like ZChess, AnMon, LaDame Blanche, Dragon, Nejmet, and the program von Sylvain Renard and so on. Zarkov have a long time the "Private" status because John are working with BookUp and the commercial software BookUp used Zarkov as main engine.

Shredder 3 is compatible to Winboard ... years later I find out.
Chrilly Donninger and Stefan used Winboard from the beginning but never we can find official information about it. Commercial interest are higher I think. So I am very happy that we have with Gandalf an engine, on the level best commercials and compatible to Winboard. Very important because first people try out Winboard because Gandalf is running here. Gave the protocol Winboard much more power!

I am working since days on a new configuration page on my site.
But only for engines I am using for testing vs. Wasp (OK, the best available engines).

http://www.amateurschach.de/main/_configuration.htm

Leo (WBEC) got the site from Thomas Meyer and Thomas got it from myself. Leo got later all the downloads from myself and the CC-Calendar.
I have my old winboard page on backup CDs with all the detail pages we created for each of the Winboard engines. A work I started with Volker Pittlik. On the detail page we collect important information to each of the engines.

Interesting are the Gambit-Soft project: Phase X

I created web sites and explain how winboard engines can work with commercial GUIs and Winboard itself.
2.5 million hits in the first 3 years only. Frank's Chess Page and Gambit-Soft are the biggest computer chess pages in www. The first forum from Gambit-Soft created Eva Marbach. Later Eva Marbach started with Parsimony because the Gambit-Soft forum have a lot of success. The reason I made a co-operation with Gambit-Soft with "Phase X".

So I can check your work a bit, but at the moment I have too many work with the own site / tournaments.

Best
Frank

PS: Over 400 html pages around Winboard in times I gave it to Thomas Meyer. Full of information for all the engines. Thomas itself and later Leo made Winboard again more populare with strong works. Nice time and a Winboard page are often on ranking place in FIDE statistics from all chess websites in the World. The webmaster from the Garry Kasparow page wrote that Winboard should be a selection on the Kasparow site. But never I gave my permission. Oh yes, the site from Ed Schröder are this times also often in FIDE stats in TOP-5. A website in Argentina and Notzai from France are the rivals (FIDE stats) ...

I know Frank, I had attached cleaned up and restructured references to all of them (mostly deleting non chess engines entries)
and the engines list of CCW (for the time 2013-2016, when Leos site had vanished and I was still almost away from computerschess)
as own tabs to the XB/UCI chronology for checking all infos, when I restarted my project in 2016.

It is always interesting to go through them from time to time again.
Also with those sheets it is easy to set up filters etc.; everyone can copy them and do his own filtering for private usage (same for main tables),
IIRC with read only access it is not possible.

The biggest supporter I like most ...

Carlos E.A. Drake
Carlos Pesce
Mogens Larsen
Volker Pittlik and Alexander Schmidt (later Alex started the UCI site).

Carlos & Carlos ... the tournaments with Winboard engines and the comments from both are computer chess history. Very nice to read and 100% "Winboarders", full of energy and passion!!

:-)

Hi Günther,

Leo had all the time the problem that he plays own tournaments and the work around the detail pages are to much for him (more and more available engines). He gave small update infos to engines only. Thomas created own news and do more as Leo. The advantage with Leo ... Leo do that a long time very continously. Thomas a short time only. Many of important information are lost after I gave up the detail pages because Thomas and Leo have own ideas around winboard. Not all of my information are public for the time from 1 year. I had at this time private problems after I sitting many years to long on the PC.

I think I should looking in detail.
I do this more times and I am thinking your work is very complete.
Perhaps I found new information for you if I check the older material.

I have around 200.000 eMails in my older TheBat backup directoy.
I am using a long time TheBat.
A good source!

Hope that the older backup CDs works fine today!

Best
Frank

All sheets are updated and set to public access again.
The download page is available again too.

Still those are subject to future limited access, even if this would mean a bit more work for me.
(for several reasons)
