One question:
for Threadripper 3990X which windows 10 is suggested?
I mean, Windows 10 Pro is OK or do I need to use the Enterprise version?
Thanks in advance,
Best regards,

I am using Windows 10 Pro after 1st trying Linux.
Linux is fine with the Threadripper - faster than Windows 10 Pro. As it it turns out , the Nvidia Super cards , like the RTX 2060 Super ,can be problematic. Suposedly , 20.04 LTS will address the issues. With Huge Pages , Linux was way faster - about 15 % , but once activated Large Pages a d out in the large page code , that cut down the difference to about 5%.

Windows 10 Pro is fine for the Threadripper

I use cutechess for matches , and Winboard for analysis. Cutechess provides native UCI support , which is better for running matches with UCI engines. Winboard use an adapter for UCI engines , fine for analysis , not great for running matches. CuteChess does not have an analysis feature.

Fritz gui is best for analysis. Cutechess or gui for engine matches.

I am using Windows 10 Enterprise which should see up to 256 threads, but I can only see 64 cores.

How can I activate all 128 threads?

Thanks.

What is the GUI that you are using?
Arena (for instance) cannot see the correct count on Threadripper.

Hi Dann,
Sandro is using the chessbase GUI
TRX40 AORUS PRO WIFI motherboard
Uefi BIOS
- SMT Mode= AUTO
- Downcore Control= AUTO

Set affinity for an application= max 64 cores
oddly 128 threads not available
