Stockfish with 'Never Clear Hash' capability

Post by giovanni »

I am letting stockfish to play a self match starting from a given position. Is there a way to avoid that Stockfish clears the hash every time it starts a new game? Alternatively, Sugar program used to do that, but I have a rather old version and the new one is not for linux yet.

Are there new strong linux engines that have this possibility?

As far as I know, that's a command that the GUI has to send in order for the engine to clear her hash. I.e. any GUI that after the game is over doesn't tell the engine it's a new game and only tells them from what position to think will not clear its hash because the engine doesn't have a way to know it's not the same game.

So my suggestion is to try a different GUI that doesn't tell the engine it's a new game between games.
