Stockfish, Sting SF and Crystal all failed to find 1. Bxe6 on my computer. However, the white side is played by a middle school boy!

Bxe6 fails low and high among best moves for a long time.
Clear fail-high happens at D=43
1.Bb3 is also ~2, which is most time higher than 1.Bxe6 Qa8

1. Bxe6 is that good only in expectation of 1. .. fxe6?
after 1. .. Qa8, Bxe6 is not much better than 1.Bb3

engines are prohibited to know opponent ELO-strength, they cannot play Bxe6 in expectation of fxe6, because it can be Houdini, Komodo or Lc0 playing black

Bxe6 seems clearly best:

A Stockfish-dev search from the root position currently has Qe4 Rd2 Bxe6 at +2.90. Unfortunately, it also has Bxe6 at the end of the movelist. Seems like poor move ordering for such a "tactical" position:

I think Qe4 and Bb3 are also winning, so it's not great as a test position. Still, it's a nice move.

Among couple of winning moves - it's a matter of horizon effect, in some PV fail-high can happer a bit earlier, in some PV a bit later, so root node is unstable.

After deepening both lines (~D=40 per move) to move #18 we get similar positions with BvsP
and D=40 analysis for #19

1. Bxe6 Qa8 line
+4,51 19.Rb3 Rc7 20.Rd3 Kf7 21.Rd5 Rb7

1. Bb3 Nxb3 line
+5,06 18.Rb1 Kg6 19.Kf2 h5 20.Rb8 Kf5

mostly identical BvsP positions with SLIGHTLY better horizon effect for 1. Bb3 Nxb3 line

For human player, both BvsP positions are identically difficult to realize Bishop advantage and both require accurate (GM level) shuffling rook and king for a long time. In engines self-play (D=40+ per move, TB7 lomonosov in 7-piece position) Bxe6 mates black faster
