I got in touch with my old long time friend Mauricio, Ruiz from Rhode Island and asked him if he has the time to play a Knight odds plus the d4 pawn removed and he immediately asked what is the rating of the Android chess program and I roughly estimated that it could be around in between 2900 to 3100 based on computer vs computer or other android chess engines , but with the Knight removed plus the d4 pawn that he can have a good chance of winning he asked me if there was at least $30.00 which is what he charge his students in Rhode Island per hour and I agree to sen him the Money. We were on on the phone making moves for about 58 minutes including setting up his pieces and him using his time clock, but I told him that Komodo on my GUI would keep track of the time. Later on he told me that he has been playing against computer for almost 18 years since Chessmaster 3000 which he used to beat with the Knight odds very easy on an Athlon 256 1200 that he had back in 2003. His strategy according to him is to exchange as many pawns and pieces as he can from the very start and since he is up in material that program would have a hard time beating him.

We already know from all of our handicap matches that even on a 32 core Threadripper Komodo at knight odds is about even with 2300 FIDE level players, and that's with high Contempt set. He is 2257 FIDE, not far below 2300, so he should easily crush Komodo on Android at knight odds, never mind knight plus pawn. It would be interesting to have him play against current Komodo on a reasonably good PC at knight odds (b1 or g1 doesn't much matter) with Contempt at 150.
I will talk to him tomorrow, send me the correct settings and your latest Komodo version, since I have a version that is older on my PC, and I will try to see if he can compete at 30 plus 5s. I will be using my PC which is not bad. Here is my email capablancajose99@gmail.com. All that I have to do is give him another $30.00 plus we are very close friends.Back in the 80,s I used to give him my computer chess report which I got from you and I also gave him my disk that I got from you of MChess written by Marty Hirsch which cost me $100.00. He recently told me that he played lots of games against Mchess which is what helped him get to 2257, but he stopped playing back 13 years ago when he realized that he reached his peak at the age of 27, now he is 40 years old. I am also very close friend to Jorge Sammour Hasbun who gave me a few free chess lessons a few months ago, he is a great a great player but now is dedicated to be a great father, if you want I can get him to play, but he will charge me at least $50.00 for being a close friend https://ratings.fide.com/card.phtml?event=5300363

PS: I am waiting for your Setting and latest Komodo version.
OK, Komodo 13.3 sent to you. For knight odds, set Contempt to 150. Regarding time limit, it's probably better to stick with 15' + 10" as that is what we're using in all these matches and it's the standard FIDE rapid time limit. If there's time for two games, one with b1 and one with g1 knight off would be ideal. Regarding Hasbun, he's too strong for knight odds at this time control, you could try knight odds with Black forfeiting castling rights as we plan with Lenderman. I would remove g1 knight for this case. What is your hardware?

Larry I need help. Where in the Arena or Shredder GUI do I set contempt to 150 and the remaining of the settings. I know how to do it on my Android Samsung Galaxy S8+ but can NOT find where to modify those settings in those two GUI's :?:

The depths in that odds game against the 2200 are not Komodo depths again, so wrong engine was playing :)

On the general topic of those odds, at 15+10 those are just gigantic for a decent player against K on a phone. Even at 5+0 and 3+2 I can get wins and draws against K13 on my phone with those odds, and I'm not that good...

Cheers!

Show me one of your games. Anyway Jorge Sammour Hasbun will be playing versus my P.C. which is about 4 times faster than an Athlon 1200 MHz. Jorge and I will be sending moves via our either cell phone, but I will be using my Dell All in One AMD E-2 7100 APU with AMD Radeon RZ Graphics 1.80 GHz RAM 8.00 GB 64 bits Operating System. He will be watched by Mauricio Ruiz Rated 2257 since both of my friends live very close.

I don't have those GUIs on my pc now, I use the Fritz GUI. I have used both of them years ago but I don't remember how to set Contempt, although it's just another UCI option so setting it just requires knowing how to set any UCI option. If you can't get help here Mark can probably tell you how to do it with Arena, but I think he's out for the afternoon now. Of course Threads should be set appropriately for the hardware.

As far as I understand Fritz GUI and Shredder GUI both are under Chessbase, somebody here should know how to set Komodo setting under Shredder GUI. I will play around and see all the options available and see if I can manage to set those komodo settings under Shredder GUI

"I'm not that good" is not very meaningful, good in chess is only relative to something else. When I mentioned some engine results vs. some 2600 GMs to Hikaru a decade ago, he asked if we had any results against strong players. So, what is your rating, FIDE if you have one, online if you don't?

No FIDE, pretty much just follow chess events and play bullet occasionally.

Been a couple years since I played regularly online, was ~2350 lichess bullet.

Blitz would be much more meaningful than bullet, but if you are anywhere near that rating in blitz, most people would call you a strong player.

Sure, that's fair.

As you say, it's all relative, and compared to a 2250 with 15+10 (what I was responding to) my play in 3+2 or 5+0 probably qualifies as not that good :)
