I guess that half of the positions with a mate deeper than 30 will actually have a shorter solution if you let the engines think long enough.
Probably 1% will even have a different key move.
When one of those turn up, you have to add an alterante solution to the test or replace the problem.
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

The Arves site (where the problem was taken from) just had the position as won, but not driven clear to mate.

So does that mean you are or are not interested in faster mate solutions? or only if there is a shorter and different key move?

I am always interested in confirmations, improvments, alternates or whatever else you can provide,
My comment was intended to describe that my data set is not as solid as I would like it to be

Here is a solution to this "mate in 40" that ends up being a mate in 32 (or less):

here's the n FEN:
1rb5/Np1p1p1B/1PpP1P2/3p2p1/8/1rP1PpPk/7P/6BK w - - 0 1

And here is the PGN:

[pgn][Event "Mate in 40"] [Site "Columbus, Ohio"] [Date "2024.01.27"] [Round "?"] [White "?"] [Black "?"] [Result "*"] [Time "15:53:57"] [TimeControl "0"] [SetUp "1"] [FEN "1rb5/Np1p1p1B/1PpP1P2/3p2p1/8/1rP1PpPk/7P/6BK w - - 0 1"] [Termination "normal"] [PlyCount "63"] [WhiteType "human"] [BlackType "human"] [Comment "bm #40;"] 1. Bf5+ g4 2. Bd3 Rb2 3. Bf1+ Rg2 4. Bf2 Ra8 5. Be1 Rb8 6. Bd2 Ra8 7. Bc1 Rb8 8. Ba3 Ra8 9. Bc5 Rb8 10. Bd4 Ra8 11. Be5 Rb8 12. Bf4 Ra8 13. Bh6 Rb8 14. Bf8 Ra8 15. Be7 Rb8 16. Bd8 Ra8 17. Bc7 c5 18.
