Knight Sac by Thinker 5.1c Passive - Does Your Engine Play It?

Post by BrendanJNorman »

So I was running a tournament between a bunch of stylish engines and witnessed a typically brutal attacking game by an old (but famous) version of Thinker...

13.Nxf7!? is a very interesting move not because it is so brilliant, but because this type of position comes up SOO often in Thinker's games.

Really a shame that work ended on this engine. Anyway, do your engines play it?

Hey what happened to your site? I liked going on there looking for updates on settings you found or trying other engines out

Knight sacrifice, pawn sacrifice and another pawn sacrifice to open lines, and then a bishop sac on d7 to be able to then play bf8 with check-tempo...

And this is the passive version? I'd like to see the aggressive one then :)

I'll have to see if Thinker has a level setting. I like this engine already. It plays risky chess, like I do :)

Great attacking game, right?

Thinker has no "level setting" per sey, but if you want to play against it, use the Active version.

Thinker Active was designed for human play and will deliberately play sub-optimal, but tricky moves and try to swindle you. Quite a fun and creative opponent.

You made me curious about Stash and so I downloaded it and had a bit of a play.

Nice unique playing style. Thanks, I love it.
