unbalanced opening positions

Post by Uri Blass » Sun Nov 01, 2020 1:58 pm

I wonder if there are testing of chess programs from unbalanced positions like the positions that I post.
I think that the total result(who is winning white or black) may be interesting and not only the program that can win from a suite that can include these type of unbalanced material positions.

I guess that with NNUE engaged, engines will do very poorly because they have never seen positions like this.
However, since these positions never arise in real games, I am not sure what it can tell us about the strength of the engines.
I analyzed these to 50 plies with Stockfish, and I do not know if NNUE was used in the analysis or not.
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.
