Updated MikeB engines don't work on my Mac mini M1. I've also tried to make them executables with chmod 700.
Ooops, I get segmentation faults. Will take a look later. But this has nothing to do with certain rights.

Ciao

New iMac M1 has the same hardware on my Mac mini M1. Very good, our first released hardware is up-to-date for 1 more year and they must only improve Big Sur :)

The new iPad Pro using the Apple M1 chip will be released in two configurations -- either with 8GB or 16 GB of RAM.
Factoring out the high cost of the 16 GB RAM version (which will also include either 1TB or 2TB of storage space), would you expect the 16 GB RAM version to benchmark significantly better than the 8 GB RAM version for chess apps such as the original Stockfish app or SmallFish Chess for Stockfish? Thanks.

Sadly it will most likely suck as much as the M1 mini and M1 MacBooks for chess. both the new iMac and iPad are pretty much identical hw and essentially the same machine like the Mini just different form factors/packaging, pricing... With the not so great looks of the iMac (subject to personal preferences of course), I guess even if you can live with the pretty mediocre chess performance of the M1 for the price point, a M1 Mini with a good screen is a less bad purchase, if you are a die-hard fruit-lover :-)

Further problems of course with the iPad compared to the rest of the different form-factors are that MacOS dont run on i, so you have to settle for iOS.
