No, too stingy. ChessUSA hosts us for free. If we have to provide our own hosting, we will have to pay for it.

I gave 100 US Dollar for some years, TalkChess have other problems.
So you can use my money!
Other possibility is to collect again!
I will give again money for solved such easy problems!
But I will not read here "Polish users ...".
Germans do enough bad things against Polish people in the past, in the history of Germany.
Never I will be one of them.
Such a message is for Germans today not to accept!!

Re: *** General user warnings ***
The moving issue has to be investigated. What we need, what such a service would cose... I am not in principle against it. Perhaps it should be discussed in the Forum Help section.
I think you misunderstands the Polish thread. Dan Corbit was relaying a complaint here of some Polish members, who had e-mailed him that the could not connect to the TalkChess website (so that they obviously could not complain themselves). Why do you want to deny the Polish members the right to complain about that?
As to the matter of warnings: don't you think it would be a bit harsh to ban misbehaving people without any warning?

I think that in times today people should used such an big forum with the real name.
Internet crime in Germany won 73,7% in the last three years only.
Such fora give persons a basic to added here brain-wirr-warr.
People are thinking I am anonym and can added all the bullhist messages in a forum where very intelligent people are member.
That is a red card for that what so many people do in computer chess history!
It's great if people like "free-thoughts" but please all have an end-point.
Open-Source chess programs for an example.
All that what chess programmers do in the past with all the ideas from the past are today on open-source sites with the hint ...
If you changed my program you have to give the sources again for free.
What?
The work so many others do in the past?
No chess program today can be develop without to use GitHub in reality.
Enough is enough with "free-thoughts"
Open-Source and free-thougths are very "double-edged"
It's nice that so many chess programmers like open-source and used the way for make the programs better.
But it make no sense to see the great points only. Same for such a forum.
Such a forum need professionalism!
Collect for a new professional web hoster and move the forum to a better address!
Forgot the free idea ...
No disucssion necessary.
Move the site, collect for a professonal site and please solve the problem as to start again and again "Polls" new discussions and so one. Again, not necessary!

Re: *** General user warnings ***
We have complaints flooding in because some posters are disturbing other members.
Something needs to be done.
The posters here are intelligent and can create posts without profanity and insults.
I think that much of the antagonizing is deliberate.
Obviously, there was animosity about the CTF issue, but that is over and done with.
There is now an alternative forum for that sort of thing, and it seems well organized and maintained.
The Polish users issue is not really resolved, though there are work-arounds like using a VPN.
We are getting the use of this forum for free. There have been attempts to create new and better forums. So far, most have been face-plants, but I think Ed's forum will probably be an exception.
We do not need discussions from Ed's new forum cross pollinated to here, since everyone already knows where to find them.
Time to let go of the turbulence about CTF. That issue is resolved by moving the forum to Ed's site.
We all have the capability to be kind to one another. Personal attacks do not achieve any desirable goals (creation of controversy is sometime's the poster's goal, but that does not make it desirable).
Personally, I think you should have to be a real whinging twit to get banned. But I don't want to handle 19 new complaints every day and neither do the other moderators. So if you whinge long enough and loud enough, someone will yank the plug, and it is only right to mention that.
Summary:
General user warnings are due to floods of complaints.
The Polish thread is not a threat to Polish members, but (rather) a notice that there are problems connecting from certain areas in eastern Europe. There are helpful things in that thread like work-arounds and it is also a reminder that there are issues not really solved.
As for a new forum:
It would be nice to have an ideal forum with perfect software that costs nothing, but I do not think it will happen.

Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

Exactly. IMO the only thing that makes sense to discuss is the IP block problem.
You say it can be solved by using a vpn.
But what about those who don’t know they have to use this,
or those who don’t like to use it. Or give Sam their IP.
IMO there MUST aber a solution.
An international forum where people are blocked because they are a nationality that is blocked by a commercial company chess USA.com
is a bad idea.
We have to thank chessusa for hosting the forum over many years, but blocking ip’s of some Whole nations brings an international community ad absurdum.
