rating of maia at lichess

Maia Chess 1900
1826 bullet
1832 blitz
1843 rapid

Maia chess 1500
1851 bullet
1694 blitz
1709 rapid

Maia chess 1100

1600 bullet
1603 blitz
1533 rapid.

It seems that there is something wrong with it and I see no difference of 400 elo between the versions.

I tried to play some bullet games against maia1100 and I could not beat it on time inspite of the fact that it was in serious time trouble)
something that it not typical for weak humans.

I had to go to 2+1 time control to win games against it in bullet

Hi Uri,

Aha I didnt see this - because I only played Maia1900 (my strengh is about Elo 1900 - 2100) - rapid. The results showed me thats
It plays like a weak 1900 Elo - so Elo 1843 are very realistic for me. And in this Elo Range everything is fine.

But you are absolutely right - the difference of 400 Elo in the versions is to much. They need more fine tuning - for weaker players.

So my hope for the next time is: Weaker Maia versions Maia 1- 8 (more finetuning) - Maia 9 is quite fine.
And more stronger versions for self play: Maia 10, Maia 11, Maia 12

I played a blitz game against the 1900 bot and won and I did not feel that I played human at that level

https://lichess.org/hmD5NtXvSmjv

I was surprised it missed a mate in 1 by playing 38.Bg4

White is losing but I fully expect human with 1900 that is not programmed to resign to see the threat and play a move like 38.Kg4

I also do not think 27.Rxd8 is a move of human with 1900.
They know it is not good to trade pieces when they are down.

Hi Uri,

you played a blitz game. Humans DONT play perfect at that level. 1 mistake and one dubious decision in a blitz game sounds like a VERY human-like playing style. I have a higher Elo number. Sometimes I blunder a queen, dont see a mate in one ... I would call such moves „natural moves“ or „natural mistakes“.
Unnatural moves are:
-playing the opening like a grandmaster/or no opening book
- moving a piece to place - and back again for no reason
-playing like a grandmaster - blundering a knight - and playing the rest of the game like a grandmaster again.

But of course Maia Chess is not PERFECT - nobody said this.

Humans may miss mate in 1 but I believe that this type of mate is usually not something that humans at the level of 1900 miss.

Where can I download the 3 Maia nets from?

Also, how would i make a net between 2750-2800 elo? A good net for Magnus to practice against.

Thanks

It felt natural, although her blunder at move 26 is not very common at my level, especially when Maia had plenty of time.
