Nirvanachess 2.5 Release

Post by cetormenter »

Hello all,

Long time no see. I figured I would make a release with all of the work that I have done within in the past few years. I will finally hopefully have some time to actually work on Nirvana some more so hopefully progress will come more quickly.

Most of the effort here has just been rewriting pieces of code to do effectively the same thing but better so not too many evaluation or search breakthroughs.

Testing against 2.4 I get around + 50 elo at 60"+0.05" after 3000 games.

More info can be found on http://nirvanachess.blogspot.com/

There's been a bit of a revolution in evaluation functions over the past few months, with many engines, such as Stockfish, Komodo, SlowChess, Ethereal, Rubichess, Wasp, and Nemorino to list a few, now using neural networks for part or all of their evaluation function with significant elo gains.

Can't download it with windows, it's detected as a virus (probably a false positive, but nevertheless...)

For me it is not possible to use Nirvana 2.5 on a WIN10 machine with Microsoft Defender, because of the error massage: "Trojan:Win32/Wacatac.B!ml"

I get a virus warning for both links, and file deleted.
