What a lengthy process to get to a simple yet clear result as requested. Thank you for your continued (continuing?) efforts on cpu.exe. Just tried the latest, out of curiosity but my Norton immediately vomited it back up. I know: Norton is rubbish etc etc. Oh dear... Thankfully Stockfish is presumably as superb as ever. Back to the hobby. Many cheers.

Now for me, I would never use a bmi2 compiled unless I was forced to (Threadripper )

generally speaking, you want to use the exe that has the more recent compiler options and still runs on your machine. The simple method is downloaead each exe and type "bench" on the command line after starting the exe and picking the exe with fastest bench. Make a note of which one that was , as that will generally be the fastest one for you going forward until you upgrade your CPU or computer.

A difference of 1 or 2 % is not relevant to most users ( excluding the programmers)
