Typical bullying: if your don't have any convincing arguments you just try to discredit those not agreeing with you by fabricating accusations of ulterior motives...gonzochess75 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 7:53 pmNone that I am aware of. Do you have something you want to get off your chest?
What I am aware of is you trying desperately - in this very thread - to find a way with tortured readings, illogic, and non-sequiturs to justify and apologize the ability of others to do so by finding non-existent loopholes.
Are neural nets (the weights file) copyrightable?

I see nothing ulterior here. Rather everything seems obvious and out in the open.

I’m almost afraid to ask: what is my motive?gonzochess75 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 8:12 pm I see nothing ulterior here. Rather everything seems rather obvious and out in the open.

Can't we just all stay away from making this discussion personal?hgm wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 7:59 pmTypical bullying: if your don't have any convincing arguments you just try to discredit those not agreeing with you by fabricating accusations of ulterior motives...gonzochess75 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 7:53 pmNone that I am aware of. That would of course be preferable. But it seems that one of use has great difficulty doing that. But then again, he also seems to have great difficulty with everything else.

Please also keep in mind its not only the outright insults, but also passive agressive comments, that makes discussions like these spiral downwards.

“Ckappe?” Are we related, or is that a passive aggressive handle on your account?

dkappe/hello Dietrich,
is there a reason why you do you refrain from attaching any license to your own nets (like from https://github.com/dkappe/leela-chess-w ... d-Networks)?
As githubs terms and services/faq gives this:
https://docs.github.com/en/github/creat ... repository
am I not wrong to think it's more flexible for you (decide on a case-by-case basis) or would it be simply not worth the time/effort pondering the appropriate one, no?
Sometimes a missing license can be just an oversight*:
https://github.com/dkappe/TogaIII (as this should be GPL surely).
*edit: one can fork (just this) whatever one wants/is on github though
greetings

Up until all this nonsense started, I wasn’t really focused on it.cpeters wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 9:02 pm dkappe/hello Dietrich,

The toga nets are intended to be embedded in the Toga III engine and are thus distributed under the GPL compatible CC0 license (I’ll make that explicit with the next release). Going forward, I’m releasing my other networks under the CC BY ND 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nd/4.0/

Re: Are neural nets (the weights file) copyrightable?
Hmm, I spoke too soon. I assumed the Toga II source (from which the Toga III differs only by adding nnue code) was under the GPL and had all license text already attached. Since it’s derived from Fruit, I would think it would be covered under the GPL. Hmmm.
