Allie under Windows 10

Post by Jamal Bubker »

Hi,
Does somebody manage to run Allie v0.8 under windows 10 ?
I tried but without success ...
When i try to launch Allie in console mode and execute "go" command, the engine is freezing and is not responding.
On my computer, I have both NVIDIA CUDA 10.1 (version V10.1.243 more precisely) and 11.1 installed.
Morever inside Allie folder, i copied the following libraries : cublas64_100,cublasLt64_10.dll,cudart64_100.dll, cudnn64_7.dll.

Thanks for your help 8-)

Using CUDA Version 10.1.243.

Hi Sarona !
Thanks for your efforts made in order to help me 8-) 8-)
Your informations about CUDA version, libraries versions and date versions are a highly valuable help.
Unfortunately, Allie doesn't still run.
I tried everything :
1) I uninstalled CUDA version 11.1 in order to keep only CUDA V10.1.243.
2) I uninstalled completely CUDA V10.1.243 and then reinstall this version again + Cudnn version v7.6.3.30 and copied Cudnn library into Cuda\bin folder and into allie folder
3 )I uninstalled completely then CUDA V10.1.243 and I install Cuda_10.0.130_411.31 (First version 10 released) + Cudnn v7.3.0.29
But nothing to do allie doesn't run in command line or under winboard or Arena...

I have to mention that i am using a RTX 3080 Graphic Card. Is allie compatible with this graphic card ?
And you Sarona, what kind of Graphic card are you using ?

Is something wrong with my setup and my installation ? (See captures below please ):

The only other thing I can suggest is downgrading your graphics card driver to the version that was circa when 10.1 came out and not 11x. Sorry if this doesn't work :(

Hi Adam,
Please don't feel sorry for that ...
As a computer chess engine enthusiast, i am grateful toward every chess programmer and you are very gifted one :D
I will follow your last hint and upgrade graphic cards 10.0 to version 10.1.
I hope it will finally work, and if not, nevermind i will follow your chess engine in TCEC tournament :D 8-)

Adam you have found what was the problem : Graphics card drivers from any CUDA 10xx versions are not compatible with the RTX 3080 graphics card ... Only drivers from CUDA 11xx versions are compatible
