I have notice when playing LTC games, that ClassicAra stops responding and will lose on time.

Example:

[d]8/3b4/3P4/7p/4K1p1/8/1k6/2B5 b - -

The TC for this game was 40 moves in 2 hours, 20 moves in 1 hour, and 15 minutes + 30 second inc for rest of the game.

This was a great game played by ClassicAra 0.9.4 with the Black Pieces against all mighty Stockfish 13. I wonder why ClassicAra can NOT use 176 threads. Oh sorry it is using a GPU :roll:

Tip for those who use Banksia Chess GUI with ClassicAra. I noticed on my system anyway that Nodes_Limit and Timeout_MS were not in the json for ClassicAra. So I added them by adding the following code to its json file.

Code: Select all

{
			"default" : 0,
			"max" : 99999999,
			"min" : 0,
			"name" : "Nodes_Limit",
			"type" : "spin",
			"value" : 0
		},
{
			"default" : 0,
			"max" : 99999999,
			"min" : 0,
			"name" : "Timeout_MS",
			"type" : "spin",
			"value" : 0
		},
This was not a problem in Shredder GUI.

Is that json file to be edited before I use ClassicAra (CPU)? So far I have left it unchanged.

No, you can edit it at any time. I would only edit it so that those options are added to the GUI. If you plan to use the default settings for those options there is no reason to make any changes. Its just that sometimes Banksia has problems detecting all of an engines options.

PS: I also had to edit the json file for Deep Shredder so that I could add the path for Shredderbases as that option was not detected by Banksia as well.
