I hope to be wrong though 8-)
I've run more than 200 blitz games to date, and unfortunately I think you're probably right
Ray, are you and Erik beting something? The two are very fast.
Well, don´t forget that Loop will updated until 2007 dezember,
this is the first Loop.

I don't know the real picture until we update the blitz list. Anything before that is speculation and I can't be sure. Of course with blitz we get a lot of games quickly and it is a reliable result, but I also have a feeling that Loop may be better at longer time controls. That will take a lot longer to find out !!

Yes we have Loop updates until Dec 2007, and I'm particularly looking to see how the upcoming quad version performs. I quite like this subscription pricing model.

Loop is a very strong engine, there is no doubt about that

UPDATE: Loop 13.5.32 2CPU v. Deep Fritz 10

+19, -11, =15, 58.8%

Nice performance from Loop.

Code: Select all

Time control: 4'+2"
Hash: 128 MB
EGTBs: 3, 4, 5, and some 6 piece tables are available. Engines access or do not access based upon their default settings.

Testset: Noomen 2006 (through 2007 Mar 03); Silver Suite v2 (FULL)
Ponder: OFF
Hardware: AMD X2 4400+ with 2GB of RAM
GUIs: Primarily Deep Fritz 10, but I have used Arena, Lokasoft's ERT, and Shredderchess too. Received a version of Scorpio 1.91 from Daniel Sharwul on 3/16/07. That version is being used in DF10 GUI, and so far, no crashes!

Cores and such: If an engine is capable of running on multiple cores, it does so in my tests. Since my hardware is dual core, I can't run an engine on anything greater than 2 cores. I wouldn't call an engine "Blah-blah 3.98 MP" or "Deep Flarbin Blah 7.3XY" if it were not running on 2 cores. If I ever did run Deep Fritz 10 on 1 CPU, I'd add the tag "1CPU" to its name. Similar to how I handle Scorpio 1.8 - I have to add the 2CPU tag so everyone knows it is running on 2 cores.

Do you remember the score Deep Fritz 10 x Loop 12.32?
Thanks,

Paulo,

Deep Fritz 10 played LoopMP 12.32 2CPU under the Noomen 2006 Test Set, and the score was as follows (close, but in favor of DF10):

vs. LoopMP 12.32 2CPU : 60 (+ 20,= 23,- 17), 52.5 %

So, I can't make a completely "apples to apples" comparison, since the latest match between the updated Loop and Deep Fritz 10 is being played using the FULL Silver Suite. FWIW, Loop is doing quite well in the most recent match, and could end up with a slight victory vs. Deep Fritz 10. However, there are now 25 games left for the two engines to play and anything can happen.

Regards,
Erik
