Movei does NOT know how to mate with a King and Rook

Post by pichy »

Here is a game that I got totallly dissapointed to watch Movei moving the Rook back and forth instead of being supported by its own King and slowly squeez the opponent King into a corner and deliver Mate

PS: Here is the final and sad ending for Movei 423

This is not correct.

Movei certainly knows to do it with tablebases or at longer time control
but I admit that it should not happen even at fast time control

Here is some analysis by movei423

You can see from the main line that with enough depth search movei see pushing the king to the corner.

I think that the main problem here is the path dependent evaluation and it seems to me that movei knows to do it with progress 0 0 0(no path dependent evaluation)

Inspite of it at longer time control it can see the winning plan without seeing the mate.

I believe that Uri should offer this last version to the public before going Commercial, it has been a long time since the last version 403 was offered to the public. To me this version is almost as strong as Wildcat in fast time control, but it also plays FRC or Chess960

This is with Progress 10 10 10 0

I believe that 423 may be slightly stronger than 421 but I do not expect big improvement

In my tests movei423 still lost against fruit2.0 twice.
52-48 at 1+1 time control and 54.5-45.5 at 3+3 time control.

Maybe fruit2.0 is not convenient opponent for movei and I should try prodeo.

Re: Great performance of Movei423 in fast time control

Post by Uri Blass »

I will probably never use prodeo again because it is not friendly opponent.

result in my test against prodeo1.2 was 19-19 and prodeo simply crashed after the following long game and simply lost the rest of the games on time.

prodeo is unfriendly opponent and same is also correct for zappa1.1 that is not good opponent for testing.
