Is it really appropriate to have a beta at the top of a rating list? I wish more games would be given to some engines that are released and in need of further testing.

Funnily enough, Glaurung 2-epsilon/4 is the first engine to break the 3100 barrier, with a 66.4% LOS over Rybka! Congratulations to Tord Romstad for this marvelous feat! :D

Some could talk about 6 games being too few, but hey, 66.4% is still much better than any other engine has ever (since Rybka's appearance) had in a published rating list.

I think it's OK for blitz. Long time control testing where CPU time is at a premium is a different story

Hi Ray,

Maybe your right. perhaps the 'best' list should only include released engines!?

Best Wishes,

Harvey

That is certainly an idea to consider - maybe we could do something like that with the pure list

This is a big disappointment.
only 5 elo more than 2.3.1 and I suspect that it is only thanks to beating other rybkas.

It seems that beta2 is full of bugs because it seems that only fixing the bugs of 2.3.1 of seeing mate when there is no mate could give more rating points.

I hope it is not going to get released in this week and vas will send another beta to test before releasing it.

I expected a significant improvement.

Hey, you are actually right! Here is the current list:

A good moment for the CCRL to stop their efforts, IMHO.

Hi Harvey,

We already exclude betas from our pure list

http://computerchess.org.uk/ccrl/404.li ... _pure.html

So 2.3.2 beta2 is not there

Shaun

P.S. H11.2 give me something that will give Rybka slightly less of an easy time

Yes but - Best is what people browsing your lists for the 1st time will look at - they wont understand what pure means. If Vas releases anything its tested in days. Loop releases 2 official engines this week - how long till they are fully both tested?
