CEGT 40/20 update (Juli 22th 2007)

Post by Werner »

Hi all :D ,

Our newest rating list and games for download are now online. All links at the end of the posting as usual.

40/20
This week we made more games with Fruit 070327 versions. New in our list is Alaric 707.

Alaric 707
The new version from Peter Fendrich had a promising start in our list. The rating is now clear over 2700 after 367 games. Congrats to nearly + 50 points!

Fruit 070327-Lac
After a bad start last week this setting is now the stongest Fruit version.
With 2822 elos it reached just the place before Rybka 1.0 beta w32. Marc is on the right way.

Fruit 070327-SF1agg
This new Fruit version started with 2808 elos after 188 games in our list last week and has now 2809 points after 450 games.

4CPU-engines
Now 2 members of CEGT team have a quad engine. With the help of Michael we made over 200 games this week testing Shredder 10.1 and Deep Fritz 10.

40/120
Yesterday we had a little anniversary:
Our rating list no. 25 was released! Follwing news:

Rybka 2.3.2a 64 2CPU now with an unbelievable performance of almost 3050 ELO, 52 ELO ahead of Rybka 2.3 64 2CPU. Lead over Zap!Chess Zanzibar 64 2CPU is now 118 ELO, over Deep Fritz 10 it is 164 ELO, over Deep Shredder 10 64 it is 192 ELO.... over Deep Junior 10 it is 217 ELO, all those with 2 CPU´s like the "Deep" indicates.

As expected Fruit 070327-SF1agg could not hold it´s initial high rating, but this is still good after 169 games only. With next list we will already have a fairly good comparison to Fruit 2.2, which is also currently receiving matches still missing.

A big thanks to all testers as usual.

Hi Werner, Thanks for the update.

Can you please shed some light on the new Fruit versions? (Hope it's not under NDA or something) Is it still developed by Fabien &Co? lot of people wonder what is the current situation with it (See thread in General Sub).

Thanks,

Toga is a fine tuned version of the existing GPL Fruit with common well known enhancements. This is not a bad thing at all as it shows the advantages of the GPL. Fruit did not continue to follow the path of fine tuning and instead moved on to new/original ideas on how to search and evaluate. For example Fruit has an extra layer between search and qsearch for extending certain types of tactics. Although Fruit had some of the best beta testers around the number of changes made where never fine tuned to the point they could have been given more time. I hope that if Fruit gets released to the public people will find settings that they find to be improvements and share them with the community.
