You can have races between riders on motorcycles against riders on bicycles, and you can compile stats and stats about the results. But what does it mean? Nil because it is apples against oranges.

Somehow I don't like games where one engine has an enormous advantage at the start. That is the case when one engine is playing on an A1200, and the other is playing on a Q6600. Why integrate the list? Just close the old list, and start a new list for the Q6600. Mixing them up is very questionable, imho.
One engine has an enormous advantage at the start also when the same hardware is used if one engine is called rybka and another engine is called Deep Fritz8.

Why mix rybka and non rybka in the same list?
Tell the ssdf to have one list for rybka engines and another list for weaker engines.

Note that I have no problem with having different hardware in the same list but if you have problems with it then you can also have
problems with different softwares because better software can also give enormous advantage.

Uri
A tiny drawback of such a reasoning is that they conduct a software rating list, so comparing different software does make sense. That's the purpose of the rating list.

However, to address Norm's comment-I suspect they have done so because they want a reliable list of QUAD computers to be created in minimal time. If they used only QUAD-QUAD games, it would take much, much longer to have same(or comparable) confidence levels.
They have very precise single processor list, and not using it is economically not justified :)

If all the guys on the bicycle are clones of Lance Armstrong on steroid(he was doping, but that's another subject), then the Bikers would suffer. Using the time control they use now(40/120 ponder on), by the time they create a list of your liking there will be new versions of most engines. As you can see, they are playing quad vs quad as well. When I want to test a bunch of brand new engines (say about 20) and integrate them to my rating list, I usually add about 4-7 engines that already have an established rating. Otherwise when I compile a rating list, if one of those engines score about 98%, it will have an inflated rating that it almost defeats the purpose of having a rating list. Ofcourse, I do move the engine to another division if it scores ridiculously high.

I read that the SSDF list for A1200 is based on games
against humans. Perhaps that is the reason.

Thanks for the results....
Just a little thought, could it be that having a quad system at your home to have a player realy that strong,I mean to play around 3100-3150 :?:
I know that this is a relative number,it depends on the pool, but after all, comparing to the human rating list of the top players, could it be that this Elo is near the truth anyway :?:
My answer is no I guess....
_No one can hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you can hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward….

No !! The SSDF guys do know that it is not "apples against oranges".
It is at most big apples against small apples.

They simply lack enough Q6600 machines. A donation would reduce the chances of seeing "apples against oranges".

Matthias.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.
