I have a working win32 compile of Robbolito 84

Post by Michael Sherwin »

Should I make it available to people that want to test it?

If the majority of people say yes then I will send it to one person that can make it available to all. However, no links here--it will have to be googled.

I figure that unix compiles are being tested it would only be fair if windows users can do the same.

Let's find out!

I wonder if what you do is legal and if Vas cannot go to court against you for doing it.

Maybe it is Vas's plan to convince people to admit that they got the clone in order to sue them in court.

I am not a lawyer and I do not know if you can get success with something like this.

Most people now have "RobboLito 0.085c3 w32" anyway.
I think the main problem in this Ippolit/RobboLito mess is that we have many claims and few proofs.

Claims:
- Ippolit is reverse engineered from an engine written in russian "b" language
- Russian Ippolit is a reverse engineered Rybka 3
- Ippolit developers kept Vas informed about their progress
- RobboLito is an improved Ippolit

Proofs:
- Ippolit/RobboLito play at the level of Rybka 3
- Ippolit/RobboLito developers use fake names

Is this enough evidence that Ippolit/RobboLito are clones of Rybka 3 ?
Do some people have proofs beyond the level of piece square tables ?
I shall classify Ippolit/RobboLito as clones when I see tangible proofs.

For the record: I saw far more proofs of Rybka 1 being a clone of Fruit than now Ippolit/RobboLito being a clone of Rybka 3.

Matthias.

So far no crashes and no losses on time (2'+6"). sherwin50.pgn

HappyHippo84 - Rybka v2.3.2a.w32 : 27.5/38 19-2-17 (1=101=1=11==11==1111==101===1==1==11=1) 72% +164

(start Tony Thomas impersonation)
poop can help grow some very delicious vegetables for a hungry and happy hippo to eat.
(end Tony Thomas impersonation)

If Ippolit is ever proven to be a clone then I will stop using it. However, the source is in the public domain and everyone should be constrained to the knowledge that a whole lot of improved and new strong engines, 'fertilized' by droppings from the happy hippo, in their back yards will appear. Then most if not all those engines will be full of $hit.

I'm surprised the mods are letting this thread stay. It seems to negate their intention of NOT supporting any link to the programs in dispute.

The only links so far in this thread point to my websites.
Can you download Ippolit/Robbolito from them ?

Matthias.

Of course i could be wrong but i take this poll as a form of tongue n cheek jab at the mods position of allowing discussion but not allowing linkage
suffice it to say...regardless of the polls results
any post made here to actually offer the engines in question by announcing that members can simply email x and request the engine.. then that is the same thing as providing a link and any post like that will be removed
at least Mike when he criticizes the mods decision does toss in a bit of satirical humor.or at least i think he is

No Jab! Just some humor. And a desire to know what people think. But, if people vote yes, I will find away to honor the action promised. I think that the mod's compromise is a good one. I also think that people will vote no!
