Interesting that Deuterium is holding its own against some tough opponents. Congrats to Ferdinand for this improved version.

I was also surprised about how much stronger Deuterium is. It is currently leading Alfil 8.1.1 in a short match at CCRL 40/40 time controls! :o
Well done to Ferdinand.

Very impressive. I think one of the keys for the Deuterium strenth lies in the pawn handling, and you know we are talking about chess' soul (no less!). And it provides Deuterium with a beautiful playing style.

Mobility of pieces related to pawn positions is probably working here. This is one of the new features added in the evaluation. There's a lot of promise regarding piece mobilities. Another new improvement is on king and pawn interactions in ending. Also new in this version is pawn aggressive placement compared to opponent's pawn formations.

I can't believe it defeated Alfil in that mini match :) I look forward to reviewing those long time control games.

Did you receive my email about the time losses issue I have had? I attached a debug file for you to look at. Seems to happen at move 80 or 81 in a 40/40 repeating time control.

Cheers,
Graham.
