I think we need to come up with a plan of what we'll do if Black plays Nd4.

I am not convinced about Nh4, especially if black plays Nd4.

I agree with Matthias.

I'm going with Matthias in voting for 10.c4.
If Black then plays 11....Nd4; I propose 12.Bxd4,ed; 13.Nc2.
We can't allow a Nd4 followed by d5 possibility.

Nh4!!

This is how we win. We play g3-f4-f5 and launch an attack. The key is that we have to avoid d5 from the opponent. Nh4 avoids that because after taking in d5, we can play Bf3 among other things.

Miguel
Miguel,

What if after Nh4, black plays Nd4 followed by d5?

I don't think you can play d4 if White plays Bd1 after Black's Nd4.

Black has to play exact chess to stay level because all whites pieces are well placed for Kingside attacks..... well both have to play exact chess ;)

Now if Black doesn't play Nd4 then I wouldn't want to be Black :)

Anyway it's just a thought.

So far we have:

3 votes for c4
2 votes for Nh4
1 vote for g3

I'll let this one run for longer.

I am not sure about moving to c4 so quickly, it allows Black to dictate the moves and leaves d3 for future concerns and weaknesses besides moving towards a possible closed position.

I wouldn't want to have the black pieces neither after that ;)

Anyway, after 10. Nh4 Nd4 11. Bd1, there is a possibility to play c3 next to expulse the black knight of d4.

When I said d5, I was thinking something like 10. Nh4 Nd4 11. f4? d5! and black has an advantage.
It would be a bad idea for black to play d5 after 11. Bd1

So, we have chances to play Nh4 even if black plays Nd4 with a promising king attack or play c4 followed by Nd5.

Nick has a point. I think we should consider this move carefully.

What do you guys think?

After 10.Nh4, Nd4; if we play 11.Bd1, Black could play Nxe4, giving up a knight for two pawns plus a bind on our game.
I'm against Nh4. Look at this line more closely and you'll see the dangers.

No Graham, I think that sacrifice loses quickly for Black because he ends up giving up d file for white to come up through the middle.

No probs. We'll beg to differ, but that's okay. :)
