Harry Schnapp Tribute 4CPU (live broadcast)

Post by Graham Banks »

HARRY SCHNAPP TRIBUTE (4CPU)

Intel Xeon X5430x2 Octal
ChessGUI
256mb hash each core used
3-4-5 piece tablebases
Ponder off
HarrySchnapp.cgb book (limited to depth of 8 moves)
40 moves in 29 minutes repeating (adapted for the CCRL)
All engines 64-bit where available
4 cycles 36 rounds
Harry's generic opening books are among the finest (some would say the finest) for engine v engine testing.
This tournament is my tribute to Harry and a way of showing my appreciation for his efforts. You'll note that I'm using the final book that Harry produced for ChessGUI.

Houdini 2.0c 64-bit 4CPU
Rybka 4.1 64-bit 4CPU

Hi Graham,

Nice idea but I'm not sure that Harry would have appreciated some of the participants in the tournament.

I'm really not sure about that Patrick, but we shouldn't be arguing about that anyway under the circumstances.
This is just my way of recognising Harry's time consuming and thoughtful bookmaking efforts.
I exchanged many emails with Harry over the years and was deeply saddened by his passing away.

Have a nice day and I hope that all is well with you.

Graham.
