I like the idea of decreasing time per move as the game nears the end but not how it's achieved in Fischer time controls. I have a cutechess-cli patch that scales the seconds per move down linearly in relation to the sum of the material on board but I'm not sure it's functioning as it should. Being more interested in an engine's analysis prowess as opposed to its match performance is the main reason I shy away from more conventional time controls and why I will never enable pondering. For playchess-like match conditions, I'm sure effective time management can be a deciding factor.

This will conclude my 20" testing. Results should be close to Stockfish 4 as there is only one functional change between this development version and the released version that I am aware of.
