1. e4 e5 2. f3 exf4 3 Sf3 Be7...
This is the Cunningham Defense. I'm afraid I don't know much about it except it isn't very popular.

The bishop gambit (1. e4 e5 2. f4 exf4 3. Bc4) is also still considered playable, isn't it?
Yes, Short used to play this and even beat Kasparov with it. It is certainly playable. 3. .. Nf6 Nc3 4. c6 (or 3. .. c6 4. Nc3 Nf6) is at least = for Black though I think.
Probably, but to be fair, I think it is hard to find a King's gambit line where black isn't at least equal with best play.

Speaking of Short, I remember an anecdote he told during one of the last couple of London Chess Classic tournaments: He said that during some recent tournament, he was approached by Alexander Morozevich, who also occasionally played the King's gambit earlier in his career (and, if I recall correctly, beat both Kasparov and Anand with it, although at least one of these games was a rapid game. I think one of these games (I don't remember which one) was even with the Allgaier gambit). I don't remember the exact dialogue, but paraphrasing, it went something like this:

Morozevich: "Do you think I should play the King's gambit?"
Short: "Sure, why not?"
Morozevich: "It's tempting to play it in principle, I just have one problem. Please tell me, how does white equalize after 2... exf4?"

Morozevich should ask Stockfish 4 instead of Short, Stockfish easily equalize vs Gull 2.2 a 3000++ engine

hi, at the moment Bouquet vs Houdini is running. Houdini played 3....Be7 instead of ...g5 which is the main line....around move 15 Houdini is 2 pawns ahead but the only active figure is the queen while Bouquet think its is better with 2 pawns down but active figures so this looks very exciting

enjoy the live Broadcast

Go to the live broadcast. It seems Houdini changed its mind now, and agrees that Bouquet has an advantage.
