Re: Internet Chess Game Time Controls
Hello Bobby,
I play on FICS from time to time, 3 0 (for each player) for blitz and 15 0 for standard games. None of these choices are available in your poll.
Here are some stats for FICS games: http://www.ficsgames.org/stats/tcontrols.html.
The problem is that it does not state for what period of time these stats were made of (I'm guessing a period of around 6 months).

I assume he means with an engine. Since we see 4+2, 15+10, and 2+12.
I would guess 1+0 and 3+0 would be 2 of the most popular answers for human chess.

I assumed he meant as a human - I don't play internet games with an engine. 15+10 is what the majority of my games are.JManion wrote:I assume he means with an engine. Since we see 4+2, 15+10, and 2+12.

Re: Internet Chess Game Time Controls
For me it is 5+3 mostly and standard games at 15+3. My internet accounts do not play bullet games.
However, I notice playchess.com is mostly 3+0 and 5+0.

The link I provided shows that 2+12 is the 4th most popular time control in FICS; there are mostly humans there. I think that this time control is that popular because it is the default when you type "seek".JManion wrote:I assume he means with an engine. Since we see 4+2, 15+10, and 2+12.

Your guess about 1+0 and 3+0 is right for FICS at least, with 20 and 37% of all games respectively.

I would guess for ICC, and playchess 1 0, 3 0, and 5 0 would be by far the most popular. 15 0 would be my guess for 4th but its just a guess.mohzus wrote:The link I provided shows that 2+12 is the 4th most popular time control in FICS; there are mostly humans there.
